Messe Berlin has engaged us for the annual opening ceremony of the International Tourism Exchange ever since 2016. In 2021 and 2022, ITB was organised solely online and exclusively for trade visitors. Howland Directors supported Messe in its digital implementation of the trade fair and press conference. Our tasks: advice on set and camera planning, content creation and production management for two parallel livestreams, broadcast from two of our own studios on the exhibition grounds.
DIGITAL Industrial Fair
I have been staging the digital formats of Financial Informatics on behalf of the CoPIDUS agency since 2020. New concept. New format. Three days digital. Financial Informatics presented from 2 - 4 November 2021 in four parallel livestreams, new products, current projects and best practice solutions revolving around the financial industry. The FI-Forum is a meeting place for the entire Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe as well as a platform for innovation and inspiration. german parfume award
The German Perfume Award is the most prestigious award in the cosmetics industry. It has been awarded in Germany since 1993. The Fragrance Foundation Germany has hosted the glamorous fragrance stars Duftstars Awards every year since 1996. The Agency Vaterblut engaged us in 2019 to stage the Award. New fragrances, classic fragrances, bottle creations, advertising motifs and commercials were awarded the coveted trophy in a total of 16 categories. The Federal Ministry of the Interior awards the annual “Helping Hand” sponsorship award. This award recognises civil protection for its volunteer work. Every year, about 200 projects are promoted. Serviceplan has been commissioned with the implementation and has engaged Howland Directors since 2015 for conceptual consulting and operational direction. Host: Andrea Thilo.
CONVENTION • LIVE AND DIGITAL
On 22 June 2022, XING invited guests to the New Work Experience at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. The motto of this convention was Celebrating Work and Pioneering Culture with a number of fascinating speakers, smart thinkers, courageous pioneers and innovative scientists – such as Jitske Kramer, Ben Hammersley and Richard David Precht – presenting and discussing corporate culture in interviews and panels. The convention was again held live and also streamed in parallel. Howland Directors: show director, show calling and stage management, in the large hall of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
CORPORATE • EVENT LIVE AND DIGITAL
In 2021, Deutsche Bahn was also faced with the challenge of holding their Human Resources department’s team day digitally and engaged me for the staging. We supported the DB team from the conceptual, set and camera planning, creation of content to the virtual implementation. And we were responsible for the show directions, show calling and provided media training for the hosts. In 2022, the #HTeamday was once again able to take place live for 400 participants, but was also broadcast parallel in a live stream.

I really like working as a show caller for other directors. My cooperation with Hans-Christoph Mücke, creative director for many successful opening ceremonies in the sports sector, has been very close. Since 2011, Hans has been responsible for the opening shows at the Final4 handball game at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne.

OLYMPIC GAMES BEIJING
One of my absolute personal highlights was and will always remain the Olympic Showcase in Beijing 2008. The VW Group was the official sponsor of the Olympic Games. Eva Wolf Produktion produced a spectacular aerial show for the VW Group and engaged me as show caller The contracting agency was De Otter & de Vries.
The Chinese agency Octagons Impact Communications engaged me for the world première of the new VW Bora, FAW Volkswagen on 20 and 21 March 2016 in Haikou China. Lead Agency: ACC, Beijing. The venue was the film studios in Haikou, where 3,000 dealers worldwide had been invited over two consecutive evenings. My job was to stage the interactive, multimedial vehicle presentation, 60 dancers, acrobats, singers and the Argentine aerial acrobatics group “Fuerza Bruta”. And in addition to that, calling the show for the almost exclusively Chinese team.
BMW + MINI
As lead agency, Wolf Production was contracted with the complete show production of the BMW International Motor Show stand at IAA 2013 in Frankfurt. During the BMW i Highlight Show, the BMW i3 and BMW i8 models were presented in a modern driving event live on stage on an 800 metre-or-so track running through the entire exhibition hall. In 2015 MINI then also became a customer.
The Lavera Showfloor was an integral part of Berlin Fashion Week from 2013 – 2015. The Lavera company supported young international designers who produced their fashion purely sustainably. In three days, 13 – 16 young designers presented their Eco Fashion at two venues: Umspannwerk at Alexanderplatz and in E-Werk Berlin.
StyleNite by the Berlin designer Michael Michalsky is a cultural event and takes place twice a year as part of the Berlin Fashion Week. In summer 2012, I was commissioned as event director. The venue was the Tempodrom. The Michalsky fashion shows of course form an integral part of StyleNite.
